Located in the Scenic Rim around 1.5 hours drive south west of Brisbane or just over an hour if you’re in Ipswich, Lake Moogerah is just stunning, surrounded by the spectacular Moogerah Peaks and is the ideal spot for a camping trip.

Lake Moogerah Camping
There are a few different options when it comes to camping at Lake Moogerah including powered and unpowered sites as well as cabins for those that prefer a few home comforts.
Below I’ve provided all the information you need in order to decide on the best location for your next Lake Moogerah camping trip.
Lake Moogerah Caravan Park
In my view, the best place to really experience all the glory of Lake Moogerah is at the Lake Moogerah Caravan Park. This caravan park is located right on the shores of the picturesque Lake Moogerah, surrounded by the stunning Moogerah Peaks and is a great place to take the kids camping.
Camping Options at Lake Moogerah Caravan Park
The Moogerah dam caravan park caters for all sorts of campers providing both powered and non powered sites as well as cabins and a house.
Camping sites are suitable for both tents, vans and even big rigs. In my view the best camping spots are the non powered sites right by the lake.
For those who prefer cabins, there is a large airconditioned cabin which sleeps 4 people in a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. The cabin comes with a fully equipped kitchen, TV and an outdoor area with a gas BBQ and private campfire. There is no bathroom (amenities block available though) or linen.
If you need something larger, there is also a 3 bedroom Moogerah lake house just a short drive away which has great views of the lake and surrounding mountain peaks. The home is fully self contained and can accommodate up to 10 people. Included with the house is an indoor fireplace, an outdoor entertaining area with a deck and BBQ, undercover parking and an outdoor fire pit.

Lady on the Lake
For larger groups, a good option to consider is Lady on the Lake. This property allows only one group to book at a time so you’re guaranteed to exclusive access to the property.
Lady on the Lake consists of the BushHut which can sleep 4 people in two queen beds. However additional people in the group are welcome to camp on site. Note that you cannot camp on site without booking the BushHut.

Camp Moogerah is set on a gorgeous 20 acre property right on the shores of Lake Moogerah and is yet another option for those looking for accommodation around the lake. While primarily set up for large school groups or other group gatherings, Camp Moogerah is still available to provide sites for small camp groups.

Yarramalong Camping and Outdoor Recreational Centre
Yarramalong is a 160 acre property, located along Reynolds Creek, which is where the Moogerah Dam releases water and is another great option for those looking for campgrounds around Lake Moogerah.
Camping Options at Yarramalong
There are three different camp areas at Yarramalong including the main oval, by the creek and on the island. Access is fine for both caravans and camper vans.
There is also a cabin that can sleep 8 people in a double bed and 3 sets of bunk beds. The cabin also includes a gas cooktop, cutlery and linen – but no towels.

- Hiking to the top of Mt Edwards for views across Fassifern Valley
